Collections

The earliest collectors of Cezanne’s work were his artist colleagues,* Paul Gauguin, Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet and Edgar Degas, among others.They in turn encouraged new collectors* in their immediate circle – Count Isaac de Camondo, Victor Chocquet, Egisto Fabbri, and more.

As Cezanne’s reputation spread, so did the number of collectors who amassed a significant number of his works of art, Cornelis Hoogendijk, Auguste Pellerin, Sergei Shchukin.

Cezanne's paintings and works on paper are housed in public collections throughout the world, in the United States, France, Switzerland, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany, to name a few.

The largest assemblage of the artist’s oeuvre is held in the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, followed by the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
