Notes
Alain Mothe has identified the site and suggested a new title (Le Jardin de Maubuisson, Pontoise) that matches the painting of the same subject by Pissarro (Pissarro-Snollaerts, no. 494). Mothe says the title "n'est pas le nom d'un jardin, mais celui d'un lieu-dit du hameau de l'Hermitage, à Pontoise. Le jardin potager représenté par Cézanne n'est pas celui de Pissarro, qui cultivait le sien à quelques centaines de mètres de là, à côté de la maison où il habitait en 1877."
