Notation on back endpaper "47 x 2", indicating the number of 47 recto and verso sheets. Some of these sheets have been removed.
The page numbers are written in Arabic numerals at the lower right corner of most of the recto pages in a soft bluish-gray pencil.

Notes
"A label pasted on the inside of the front cover shows that Cezanne bought the sketchbook at the Papeterie Michallet in Paris during a brief period between 1882 and 1884, when the shop was owned by Pluchet, a successor to the original owner" (Shoemaker and Reff, p. 16). Therefore the dates of the individual sheets must be dated 1882 or later.
