Notes
Rewald (1996, p. 146) suggests that since this paintng is of a snow scene, Gachet may have referred to it in a note: "He came [back] to the motif twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, in gray weather and in clear; it so happened that he frequenty slaved away at a painting from one season to another, from one year to another, so that in the end the spring of 1873 became the effet of snow, 1874" (Gachet, 1956, p. 56).
