Exhibition History
Grafton Galleries, London, Second Post-Impressionist Exhibition, October 5–December 31, 1912. The French group was organized by Roger Fry. Six watercolors by Cézanne were also shown. The exhibition was extended and re-opened on January 4, 1913. A separate catalogue was issued, no. 4, as Le Dauphin, lent by Gustave [sic] Bernheim), not for sale.

Rewald (1996) noted that the paint is thinly applied, diluted perhaps with turpentine, like a watercolor.
Venturi (1936) described the colors in the painting as: "Arbres verts et bleus. Mur et montagnes jaune-orange. Toits rouges. Toutes les couleurs se reflètent dans l'eau. Toile découverte; quelques touches bleues pour le ciel."
