Notes

Egisto Fabbri, an early Cézanne collector and a painter himself, once owned this still life and made a faithful copy of it (see Rewald, 1996, p. 231). He copied other paintings in his collection, notably Le Garçon au gilet rouge, 1888–90 (497).

Trois poires, 1878–79 (FWN 754). Egisto Fabbri, A Corner of the Artist's Studio, Paris, oil on canvas, 18 x 15 inches. Also in the background are two still lifes (FWN754 and 769), also belonging to Fabbri.
