Notes

Dorival (1948) connected the pose of the bather with Daniel by Marius Mercié in the Louvre; Reff (1962) links it with a Dancing Satyr in the Louvre.  Pierre Bonnard, who owned it, made a lithograph after it for the Album Bernhim-Jeune (1914).
