Notes

The original Delacroix is in the Louvre. It was painted in 1822 and shown in the Salon of that year.  It was purchased by the French state and exhibited at the Luxembourg until 1874. Manet also made a copy in about 1854. Cézanne owned an engraving after the Delacroix painting.
