Chappuis "has established that the mountain in the left background is the one called Taillefer. The artist executed this work from a boat offshore, with the Château du Ruphy at his left. To the right, a few strokes roughly indicate the buildings of Duingt, one of which also appears in the painting [Le Lac d'Annecy, 1896 (311)]." (Rewald, 1983, p. 201)
